You can probably best describe me as the pragmatic and stable driver of change, leveraging a wealth of experience in the sustainability space.

For the past 20 years, ESG and Sustainable Finance have been the leading theme throughout my career. I held senior roles at ABN AMRO and Sustainalytics (an international rating company). Understanding and translating the most material ESG factors in any given industry to the financing reality has been one of the primary skills I developed during this period. 

Since 2018, I have worked directly and independently with a wide range of corporations and investors on their ESG journey. The specialist asset I bring to the table is the ability to connect ESG issues and trends across different sectors and regions with a financing lens.

I always keep a sharp eye on stakeholder management, team engagement, and tangible results in my work. A typical element of my work is to connect the dots and try to bring out the unknown or unnoticed in your organisation.

I don’t fit neatly into a singular box, except that it is in the nexus of community and profitability.

I like doing good (meaning, having a positive impact on the world around us) and doing well (meaning, creating financial success).

My career has had three distinct parts:

Studying, qualifying and practicing as a Chartered Accountant (SA), providing audit and advisory-type work for a complete mix of clients, primarily in consumer, industrial and tech sectors.

Founding and growing start-up businesses.

Consulting for small and medium businesses, primarily in the back-office and finance areas of their businesses. This is where I currently do most of my work: building capacity and capability at my clients so that they can truly know how they’re doing and how they can do better.

Highlights of my career:

Started (and successfully sold) a fintech start-up focused on education savings as an employee benefit. The first of its kind in South Africa

Launched a business consultancy  to assist SMME owners with bringing structure to back-office functions

Spent a decade with PwC primarily in audit and learning/development functions

Led a global team in creating and rolling-out an annual 5-day learning experience for 8,000+ attendees in 120+ countries.

Co-founded and patented CapsulePen, which aims to improve medication compliance.
